The Rest Is Tomorrow

Romanian fashion made a fine presence during London Fashion Week 2013, due to “The Rest is Tomorrow” exhibition which is taking place at the Romanian Cultural Institute, London until 22nd of February.

“The Rest Is Tomorrow” was nominated for the “Emerging Talent Award 2013”, part of the British Council and British Fashion Council’s International Fashion Showcase.  27 embassies displayed the work of over 110 international designers. The public together with international press and buyers had the opportunity to explore these innovative collections throughout February. Each country has been asked to present a showcase of emerging designers who best represent the future of fashion in their region. The voting committee chaired by Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and Contributing Editor to US Vogue, awarded the winning country on Sunday at the official BFC catwalk venue in Somerset House, during LFW. Out of the 27 participant countries, Romania ranked second after a tight competition with Estonia.

The Romanian designers Doina Levintza, Irina Schrotter, Andreea Badala (Murmur), Lucian Broscatean, Dinu Bodiciu si Carla Szabo, together with the exhibition designer Attila Kim, were highly appreciated by the competition jury, which included also other famous fashion critics  such as Julian Roberts (editor BBC Blast online, fashion designer and  Royal College of Art professor), Anna Orsini  (British Fashion Council expert), Tamsin Blanchard (Telegraph) and Oriole Cullen (Victoria and Albert Museum).

The exhibition is a partnership with Galateca Gallery Bucharest and will open for the Romanian public from the 27th of February.
