You could easily take it home with you because we are talking about pocket-sized chairs. But you will actually leave them there, for everybody to admire, as we are really talking about the “100 Miniatures Collection”, with miniature replicas of milestones in furniture design.

This collection was initiated by the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and is now coming to Bucharest, thanks to Intro and Techo. A summary of the history of industrial furniture design – moving from historicism and art nouveau to the new objectivity of Bauhaus and radical design, and from postmodernism all the way up until the present day – the collection has grown to include more than 100 pieces. The chairs are all one sixth of the size of the historical originals. They are all true to scale and replicate the originals right down to the smallest details in construction, material and colour.

I intend to go to the exhibition with my kids, because the toy-sized chairs are a good trigger to introduce them in a culture and design populated environment. The exhibition is to take place on the occasion of the new Carturesti store on Calea Floreasca, no. 246B. It can be visited between 22th of October and 5th of November.

The first premise of this post is the annual design bash that the Intro team is organizing as a followup to  “Salone Internazionale del Mobile”, for a synthesis of the forthcoming design trends in the industry. After this year’s friendly get-together at Intro, I left with 3 favorite trends: Innocence, Techno-minimalism and Pastels.

The second premise is that, as you probably already know, I always like to go to Intro. Besides the design infusion that I always get along with a cup of tea, I like to chat with the 3 girls that accompany Mihai and Claudia in this creative adventure called Intro. I think Iulia, Georgia and Diana are 3 genuine cool girls with an understated charm and this combination is what I like most.

Assuming these, I only had one authentic way to present you my favorites design trends. I asked the three girls for a personal fashion&design interpretation.

Iulia – still has the most incredible eyes and she really knows a few tricks with the skate
Georgia – be aware, Mihai,  she is an undercover model! Of course, with a fine taste for design!
Diana – is the most gentle person I know and she can always tell you something inviting in design field

Go to “Dock Kitchen” restaurant for a combination of design and food delicacies.

Dock Kitchen occupies one floor of furniture designer Tom Dixon’s headquarters. Situated in a converted Victorian Wharf building as part of an urban regeneration project by Derwent London (also responsible for the Tea Building in Shoreditch), The Dock Kitchen overlooks the Grand Union Canal in Ladbroke Grove, West London. The original brick arches and beamed ceilings have been preserved and combined with an exclusive display of the full Tom Dixon collection of furniture and lighting to create an honest, open space. The Tom Dixon shop resides directly beneath the restaurant housing pieces from over a dozen international designers.

The restaurant combines guest chefs, themed or just-discovered-this menus with a casual, café-style vibe. Dock Kitchen is an experimental kitchen always adapting the menu and trying new things depending on a specific place, a particular ingredient or just an idea that inspires the chef to cook exciting things.
